The final U.S. Airways flight will take off from Philadelphia Friday.

Flight #1939, named for the airline's founding year, will stop in Charlotte, then Phoenix and end in San Francisco.  U.S. Airways and American Airlines will officially operate as one airline beginning Saturday

The Airbus A-321 will return to Philadelphia Saturday under the American Airlines banner, following the completion of a merger between the two airlines in 2013.

On the practical side, the change means the U.S. Airways website and mobile app for ticket purchases and check-ins will no longer work as of Saturday. Customers will be directed to American's website.
