The City of Muskogee is working to repair a broken water line that flooded part of a business. The city said the broken pipe feeds a fire suppression line.
Crews learned about the rupture early Wednesday morning but said they couldn't turn off the water or start repair work until they got clearance to dig in the area.
Walls Bargain Center's operations manager, Roy Turner, said he contacted a remediation company, which pumped out more than 7,500 gallons of water Wednesday.
“We’ve been a part of this community for a long time, and we feel like we’re good citizens in good standing with the City of Muskogee, and, yeah…I kind of felt like they would have been here for us a little more than what they have,” Turner said.
The city said it couldn't shut off the line until after 6:00 Thursday evening because of how many people it impacts.
Once the water was shut off, workers began repairs.
