Former Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz was arraigned Tuesday afternoon.

Glanz appeared in court on two misdemeanor counts: willful violation of the law and refusal to perform official duty. The first count accuses him of using a county vehicle for transportation while taking a $600 monthly stipend to cover expenses for using his personal vehicle. The second count accuses him of failing to release internal investigations of the office's reserve deputy program.

Glanz was indicted on the same two counts by a grand jury, which was called after the death of drug suspect Eric Harris. Harris was shot by then-reserve deputy Bob Bates who said he thought he was tasing Harris and grabbed his gun by mistake.

A prosecutor said Tuesday he dropped the indictments and filed the two counts himself to avoid any questions about the grand jury process.

Glanz's next court date is January 20, 2016. He's free on his own recognizance.
