Muskogee 3-Year-Old Killed By Morphine Overdose, ME's Report Says

The death of a Muskogee 3-year-old is being investigated as a homicide.

According to the medical examiner’s report, the boy died as a result of morphine overdose.

The report says the boy’s mother found him blue and unresponsive after being placed down for a nap. He was transported to an emergency room and pronounced dead, according to the report.

Sources said the boy was given medicine to help with sleep and with insect bites and it was possible he was given some before his nap.

According to the report, investigators spoke with the family after toxicology reports were finalized and the grandmother said she crushed morphine medication and gave it to the boy in a sippy cup before the nap.

The medical examiner cited that as the cause of death.
