Mother, Boyfriend Charged In Tulsa Baby's Death

Prosecutors filed murder and other charges Monday in the death of a little girl who died on her first birthday.

The Tulsa County District Attorney's Office charged Hallelujah Brookens, 21, with permitting child abuse by injury. It charged her boyfriend, Nathaniel Watkins, 25, with child abuse murder and child neglect.

According to Tulsa police, Nevaeh Brookens-Roldan was pronounced brain dead on Thursday, December 3, 2015. The case began on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, when officers received a call about a child in distress at the Parkview Terrace Apartments near west 61st and Union.

After paramedics noted several injuries, police said they interviewed Watkins and he admitted to shaking her violently for up to two minutes.
