Murder Charge Dismissed Against One Suspect In Owasso Killing

Prosecutors dropped the murder charge against one of three suspects in a shooting death at an Owasso convenience store last summer.

Emmett Tyler Wood, 26, of Sperry, died after being shot at the Kum N Go on 86th Street North on July 24, 2015.

Police eventually arrested Jacob "Jake" Pepper, Michael "A.J." Hatcher and Antonio "Tony" Pruitt in the case. 

Pepper was 18, Hatcher was 23 and Pruitt was 22 at the time of the shooting.

Prosecutors charged each of them with first-degree murder on July 30, 2015. But on December 3, prosecutors asked the judge to dismiss the charge against Pruitt and the judge complied.

According to a police affidavit, Hatcher and Pruitt were with Pepper when Pepper pulled a gun on Wood and demanded money. The affidavit says the two men struggled and Pepper shot Wood, who either fell or was pushed out of Pepper's truck in the Kum N Go parking lot.

Prosecutors said they believe Pruitt was there but don't have enough evidence to convince a jury he's guilty of murder.
