Flooding is taking a toll on boats and marinas at Fort Gibson Lake.

Managers at the Taylor Ferry Marina in Wagoner County said they woke up to find Mother Nature had gotten the best of it.

Just one storm transformed the Taylor Ferry Marina; a tennis and basketball court is now underwater and a storage building is now rubble.

Manger Kurtis Rowan said, "This…I've never seen anything like this."

Rowan said the worst damage was inflicted on the marina's docks, which held about 80 boats inside.

"It's devastating, as far as boat slips. I mean, there are many other facets of the business, but as far as the slips, there wasn't one boat slip that wasn't damaged here. It's going to take a lot of work to put it back together," he said.

Luckily, none of the boats endured more than a couple dings and scrapes; but Jacque Bohannon spent the day calling boat owners having to break the news of what had happened and asking them to come get their boats out of the water.

"It's hard to see that. It's hard to see that kind of damage. But, you know, again, it's Mother Nature," Bohannon said.

Rowan said, "I've been here a long time and I know fighting Mother Nature is just fighting Mother Nature. It's nothing you can get too upset about because we just have to go to work and get things fixed."

And Oklahomans know the only way to fight Mother Nature and win is with our own nature.

"I'm always optimistic. That's just my nature,” Bohannon said with a laugh.

Managers said they have no idea how much it'll cost to clear the damage. They'll get appraisals later this season.
