Owl Found On Side Of Road Being Rehabbed At Foyil Care Facility

An owl found on the side of the road with a bad wing is doing well now that he's in the care of Wild Heart Ranch Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation.

On Tuesday, December 29,2015, ‎Deidre Shaffer‎ shared a photo of the owl on the News On 6 Facebook page. She said her husband had found it and was taking it to the ranch.

The director of the ranch, Annette King Tucker, said her staff is caring for the young barred owl.

Tucker said the owl is a young male, but she's not sure if its wing was hurt or if the owl had been born that way. She's waiting for a veterinarian to examine the bird on Thursday at the ranch near Foyil. The veterinarian's diagnosis will determine what kind of long-term care the bird receives. In the meantime, Tucker said the owl is eating well.
