The civil lawsuit filed by the women against former Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw can now go forward.
A stay originally issued for the civil lawsuit until the criminal case against Holtzclaw concluded. With sentencing made last week, a judge lifted the stay on Wednesday.
Holtzclaw was found guilty Dec. 10 on 18 out of 36 felony charges. He was accused of sexually assaulting 13 black women in northeast Oklahoma City, the area he patrolled. He was sentenced to 263 years, the precise punishment recommended by the jury.
A judge ruled the stay against the City of Oklahoma City to be lifted back in December.
