Some Tulsans left on Friday to take clean water to people in Flint, Michigan.

For a few weeks now, that community has had to use bottled water because of high lead levels in the water system.

The local activist group “We the People” decided to help. They asked Tulsans to donate, and they did.

The group left around 7 a.m. with a truck packed with 15,000 bottles of water for the more than 900-mile trip.

They decided to help because they believe so many other states have reached out to help Oklahomans after natural disasters. They wanted to do their part to help those in need.

"Everyone came together,” Marq Lewis said. “They helped donate funds. They helped donate water. They made this trip possible.”
