Two Men Arrested For Stealing Copper From City Of Tulsa

Two Tulsa men are in jail after police say they stole over 200 pounds of copper wire belonging to the City of Tulsa.

Justin Anthony Smith and Jerome Jason Sims were found sitting in a yard stripping the wire of its insulation, an arrest report states.

They were arrested Monday afternoon, according to police records. The booking reports states an employee with Tulsa's traffic engineering department was called in to identify the wire which came from a job site.

Smith, 24, was booked on complaints of possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled drug, larceny of copper wire,  Smith also had some outstanding traffic complaints.

Sims, 27, was booked on a charge of larceny of copper wire. He was out on bond for previous drug-related convictions, records show.
