Senator Bernie Sanders held a rally Wednesday, February 24, in Tulsa. The democratic candidate is slowly but surely catching up to his opponent Hillary Clinton in Oklahoma polls.
Days ahead of Super Tuesday, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was at the Cox Business Center with his wife Jane Sanders at his side in front of thousands of supporters.
“He is sincere, committed hard working person, and he’s got the ideas and the vision that I think America needs,” said Jane Sanders.
“When I look out into this crowd I don’t think there’s any way we’re going to lose on Tuesday,” said Bernie Sanders.
The senator set goals to fix what he calls a broken criminal justice system, a rigged economy and the problem with higher education and student loan debt in our country.
“Guys this is crazy stuff. People should not be punished for getting an education. They should be rewarded,” said Bernie Sanders.
He wants the rich to pay for their fair share of taxes. And for minimum wage workers to get a pay raise. He also made bold remarks about his environment plan.
“I know that not all of your elected officials in Oklahoma will agree, [cheers], but here is the truth. The truth is climate change is real,” said Sanders.
“In my view, we have got to stand up to the fossil fuel industry. We have got to work with countries all over the world – Russia, China, India, and other countries to transform our energy system away from fossil fuel to energy sufficiency and sustainable energy,” continued Sanders.
Wednesday, U.S. Senator Harry Reid announced his support for Bernie Sander's opponent Hillary Clinton. And her campaign says former Oklahoma Governor David Walters will cast his vote for her when early voting begins Thursday.
