Folks in the Claremore area are wasting no time starting the cleanup process after a tornado blew through the area. The storm picked up steam after it passed through north Tulsa and Owasso, and did extensive damage in Claremore.

One residential facility has crew an excavation crew clearing debris, and they're already burning limbs and branches damaged in the storm.

Part of one building belonging to Copp's Residential Living lost its roof.  Three clients of the facility lived in a two-story home in the facility's independent living program. They weren't inside when the storm came through.

They took cover over in the main building.

Copp's Residential Care is a licensed assisted living facility for patients living with mental health issues.  Residents have been temporarily relocated because the power is out.

Forty-five people live at the facility. They all took cover in a hallway and the owner says the process went smoothly because they were prepared.

"We practice a lot. Of course, we do fire drills, tornado drills,"  said Tracey Copp, owner. "Lot of times when there really is one in the area we always impress on them if we holler it's not a drill, ya know, they need to move it."

No one was hurt and the power should be back on shortly, then the residents in the main facility will be brought back.

There are several separate homes for independent living. The folks who were living in those place will live with family or in other facilities until the housing can be repaired or rebuilt.
