Collinsville Police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the city's first homicide in six years.

Authorities tell News On 6, says this death may have stemmed from a domestic situation at a home at 19th and Veterans Drive. Police got the call at about 5 a.m.

OSBI said when the call originally came in, someone reported a woman and car in the road that seemed out of place.

They arrived to find a man, identified as 52-year-old Brian Neil Floyd, dead in the driveway of his home in the 300 block of South 19th. They also found a woman, 37-year-old Sharon Morris, near the vehicle suffering some type of wound.

She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Floyd and Morris were dating, according to OSBI.

"I think initial indications that the incident might have occurred at the park; I think now we're thinking it may have started at the home and contained to the park," said Assistant Special Agent in Charge Aungela Spurlock, OSBI.

"We're just trying to vet that out at this point."

OSBI says it is too early in their investigation to determine if the woman is a suspect in Floyd's death, but add they are not actively looking for a suspect. They also say no one has been arrested.

Authorities got a warrant to search the home and examined the red Ford Mustang parked outside the home.

Police Chief Jimmie Richey said there hasn't been a homicide in Collinsville in at least six years.

"This is the first one since I've been here," he said.

Becky Buchfink came to the park with her two children to play at the splash pad. Instead, she said she ended up having a talk with them about safety.

"I just told them that there are strangers and that you always stay with mom and dad," she said. "Bad things can happen anywhere, so just be within our sight so that nothing bad happens to you."

The medical examiner will determine Floyd's exact cause of death. OSBI initially said they were investigating a stabbing as a homicide.
