Sapulpa firefighters battled high temperatures while fighting a fire at an apartment building in the 300 of block of West Cleveland early Saturday.
The fire department got the call at about 5 a.m. from police who reported seeing flames coming from the structure.
Firefighters searched the home which had been converted into three apartments and found no one inside. Officials say they were able to knock the fire down within 15 minutes of arriving on scene.
Fire Battalion Chief D.J. Keizor says they had additional firefighters sent to the scene to relieve firefighters who had been fighting the fire. He says no firefighters were injured, but says they are making sure all firefighters at the scene were hydrated.
News On 6 spoke with the mother of the homeowner who said a family renting an apartment in the home had just moved in. She says the family lost all of their belongings, but were not in the home when the fire started.
Keizor says the cause remains under investigation, but initial reports indicated a problem with a water heater was suspected.
