Broken Arrow's Rose District is about to expand.  Thursday morning, city crews began tearing down the former Assembly of God church building  at 305 North Main.

The building has been vacant for ten years.  It covers a full block and when it's cleared it will allow room for growth in the Rose District.

The City of Broken Arrow bought the old church for $600,000, recognizing that new development could be worth much more than that.

The change has brought out quite a crowd to watch.

Officials say the demolition will take several days.  They're separating out the pieces as they go, but soon this will be flat, ready for revitalization.

Revitalizing downtown has been a major emphasis for Broken Arrow city leaders in recent years, and they say they're looking at several proposals now for a mixed-use residential/business space.
