DOC: Inmate Dies After Altercation At Hominy Prison

Officials say an inmate at Conner Correctional Center in Hominy has died.

During a check Thursday evening, officials say guards noticed John Vaughan III, 43, of Tulsa appeared to have been involved in some sort of altercation.  He was first taken the prison's medical ward and then to the Cleveland hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Department of Corrections is investigating. It says it's reviewing security video along with interviewing inmates.

DOC records show John Vaughan III was serving time for several convictions for drugs, weapons and theft out of Tulsa County.
