Police released surveillance video from the burglary at the IRS office in Downtown Oklahoma City earlier this month.
The Oklahoma City Police Department is searching for one suspect, the only man caught by surveillance cameras. He broke into the office on Labor Day Weekend when the IRS office was closed. Police responded on September 6.
Master Sergeant Gary Knight said, “You get a pretty look good at this guy. He is wearing a mask, but you get a good look at his clothing, the way he moves, his body build.”
Knight is hoping someone will be able to identify the suspect by looking at the video.
According to police reports, the man flipped through filing cabinets and drawers. He also got into two small lock boxes in the cubicles. He damaged the safe, but was not able to get in.
“We’re still not sure if anything was taken. We do know that the office was rifled through,” said Knight.
From a source, IRS employees were told no taxpayer information was compromised and likely nothing was taken.
Anyone with information about the suspect or incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
