Google's Investment In Mayes County To Expand To $2 Billion

Google announced Friday it will expand its Pryor facility to a total investment of $2 billion by 2018 and increase local employment to more than 400 people.

The Google facility opened its doors in Mayes County's MidAmerica Industrial Park in 2011.  The first expansion in 2012 came with a $700 million investment and the building of a four-story data center.

"Since Google opened its data center here in 2011, they've been a powerful partner in both economic investment and community engagement.  They continue to make substantial investments in local education programs, technology resources for nonprofits, renewable energy and even free public Wi-Fi," said Pryor Mayor Jimmy Tramel.

On Friday, Google announced a $100,000 grant to Workforce Development to support STEM education in northeast Oklahoma. 

"Google’s $2 billion dollar investment announcement in Oklahoma is yet another example of our state’s success in attracting, retaining and growing some of the best companies in the world. Google is a model corporate neighbor, having reinvested in its community more than $1.5 million in STEM grants and tech programs," said Governor Mary Fallin.
