Tulsa's 97th Annual Veterans Day Parade will kick off at 11 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016, and thousands of people are expected to converge on downtown for the event.
The parade, which is one of the largest Veterans Day Parades in the United States, will begin at 3rd and Boston and will end at 6th and Detroit.
Several downtown Tulsa streets will be closed until the end of the parade which is expected to be after 12:30 p.m.
More than 3,770 people and 350 vehicles will be in the parade, according to the committee.
The theme for this year's parade is "Strong Then, Strong Now...Honoring Women Veterans," according to the Tulsa Veterans Day Parade Committee.
The parade committee is a part of the The Greater Tulsa Veterans Organizations Association, which is the sponsor of the parade.
The honorees this year are: Bernice Trotter (veteran, U.S. Marine Corps) Grand Marshal; Stacey Kitsmiller, (U.S. Navy) Parade Chief of Staff; Katherine “Kate” Tillotson, (U.S. Marine Corps) Parade Commander; Megan Lowry (U.S. Marine Corps) Parade Adjutant.
