A daring burglary just north of Shawnee has one family fuming.
Kirk Harvey bought a Chevrolet half-ton pickup from his brother Kenny 17 years ago. Kirk says he’s added several thousand dollars-worth of aftermarket add-ons to his truck over the years.
But sometime early Monday, someone stole Kirk’s truck from his brother Kenny’s driveway, about 5 five miles north of Shawnee. Unfortunately, Kirk had left the keys to his prized rig on the truck’s floorboard.
“It’s totally changed out there,” he said. “You can’t leave you keys, you can’t leave your door unlocked, you can’t do anything anymore, it’s ridiculous.”
Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth says there’s been a pronounced increase in truck and trailer thefts in the past month. He urges vehicle and equipment owners to do their best to keep them locked up at night.
