Troopers identified a third fatality Tuesday morning in Monday's crash involving a semi and an SUV on I-35, just south of Purcell. Four medical helicopters were requested at the scene on the northbound side of I-35, near mile marker 91.
Officials with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol announced Monday two people were pronounced dead at the scene and five others were transported to local hospitals. Tuesday, troopers have identified only one victim, Erin Van Horn, 40, of Tulsa, was transported to the Purcell Hospital immediately following Monday's crash. She was pronounced dead at Purcell Hospital.
Van Horn was the only adult in the car at the time. The passengers were three 13-year-old girls, an 11-year-old boy, a 10-year-old boy, and a 7-year-old girl. Both boys were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities shut down the northbound side of I-35 for more than three hours while crews worked the scene.
The collision is currently under investigation by OHP. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
