Police say cellphone text messages led them to the killer of an Oklahoma City man who died Sunday, after being found with a gunshot in a Walmart parking lot.
Police were called to the Walmart at Penn and Memorial, after a pickup truck crashed in the parking lot. However, police quickly figured out the driver of the pickup had a critical gunshot wound. 26-year-old Kendall Neal died at a local hospital.
Police say Neal had been texting with 17-year-old Nicholas Daniel in the moments before the crash. Police say they had Daniel’s cellphone number on file.
“He was brought down to the homicide unit, where investigators tried to interview someone, and ultimately he was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail,” said Police Spokesman Gary Knight.
Daniel is being held without bond. News 9 spoke with the victim Neal’s mother Tuesday afternoon. She said her focus right now is “making arrangements for her son.”
