'Work To Contract' Protest Will Not Affect TPS Sports Programs

While some Tulsa teachers will limit their work to just the hours specified in their contracts, athletics won't be affected.

Coaches have extra duty contracts and get extra pay to handle team practices and tournaments.

"Athletics will still go on as normal, even outside of contract hours," said Shane Keim, Athletic Director at Hale High School.  "Our practices, the games, etc., those things will go on."

Schools have similar arrangements for other extracurricular activities supervised by teachers outside school hours.
