Friday Broken Arrow students and teachers paid tribute to a teacher who was murdered last year.

Everyone at Oneta Ridge Middle School dressed up in Star Wars gear to remember Shane Anderson. Anderson taught geography loved Star Wars, so the school thought May 4th would be the perfect day to honor his life.

"He was loved. The kids in this building, the teachers in this building - we loved Mr. Anderson. And because he is so beloved, we just wanted to celebrate him and everybody who knew him, knew he loved Star Wars, loved minions, that kind of stuff," said Assistant Principal Julie Sunderland.

Anderson was shot to death inside his home in October of 2017. Prosecutors charged 16-year-old Deonte Green with Anderson's murder after a crime spree that ended when he invaded Anderson’s home.
