A man and woman are dead after a crash in midtown Tulsa.
The crash happened Monday evening at 41st and Yale.
Police say a car in the westbound lanes of 41st made a left turn onto Yale and was struck by an eastbound pickup.
Officers say two people in the car died in the collision. The driver of the pickup was not injured, police say.
“Very tragic situation and, obviously, until the full investigation is done, I couldn’t tell you if it was speed or it was a failed yield that was really the contributing factor to this,” said Sergeant Kurt Dodd. "Slow down at the intersections. Obviously, don't try to hit the yellow light. Don't try to proceed at the yellow light because that's how these types of collisions happen. They happen in a second and, obviously, the consequences are huge."
The northbound lanes of Yale at 41st and the eastbound lanes of 41st going by Promenade Mall are closed for now.
Police ask that you avoid the area, if possible, while they continue to investigate.
