The Tulsa State Fair opens Thursday, September 27, and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office wants families to be safe.
Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado said it’s easy for children to get separated from parents in crowds – last year the sheriff’s office helped 133 lost children.
Regalado is urging parents to take advantage of free wristbands for their children, which allows them to write names and contact information on them so deputies can reunite families.
The sheriff is also urging parents to have an updated picture of their child on their phone in case they were to get separated.
Regalado said they want to avoid any tragedies that could come following a child being lost.
“The overwhelming majorities of separations are accidental, they happen to everybody. Again, no judgment zone when it comes to that, but we do want to limit those and provide you with precautionary measures,” Regalado said.
TCSO also has a command post at the east end of the pavilion and the lost child center is on the west end.
