Franklin Robinson was sentenced to for trying to have sex with someone he thought was a 14-year-old.
He was arrested back in March and bonded out. Now he'll spend five years in prison, 5 years on probation, and the rest of his life as a registered sex offender.
"The messages in this particular case were extremely graphic. The specific things that this defendant was wanting to do are shocking," said Assistant District Attorney Heater Anderson.
For two weeks in March 25-year-old Robinson chatted with who he thought was a teenage girl on Facebook then the KiK app.
“Despite knowing that she 14, he continued in the conversations, and made some statements during the conversation that he might get in trouble for this, he could get in trouble for this. Let's keep it a secret," said Anderson
Police reports show Robinson told the girl he wanted to take her virginity and would give her the morning after pill.
He also repeatedly asked for nude pictures and sent her a frontal nude photo before planning to meet while her mom was out of town.
"He inquired where she lived, the apartment complex. They agreed to meet. He made several statements about meeting her and what he intended to do with her, and to her, and for her once they did meet. And ultimately that's where he was arrested," said Anderson.
Anderson says she's pleased with the sentence a judge handed down on Monday.
"I don't know that he was sorry. I think he was sorry that he was caught," she said.
She hopes Robinson's mugshot stops other would-be predators and encourages parents to always be aware.
"Know what your kids are doing. Check their phones, check their social media. Don't be afraid to ask the hard questions and if they start to shy away and close down on you, push harder,” said Anderson.
