Oklahoma Highway Patrol, as well as Tulsa and Catoosa Police officers, responded to a scene of a dangerous situation on the 145th East Avenue bridge that goes over I-44.
OHP shut down lanes going both directions as law enforcement worked with an individual who was thinking about harming himself.
Tulsa and Catoosa police officers also responded. TPD's chaplain was on the scene, along with negotiators. They talked with the man until he came down off the bridge safely.
Police say he is receiving a medical evaluation and treatment
"Officers are trained to deal with people who are in psychological distress or crisis. We take great pride in being able to kind of slow things down and talk to people and do our best to come to resolutions like we did today," said TPD Captain Thaddeus Espy.
