Tulsa Police responded to a deadly hit and run near Pine and Peoria Monday, August 19. Police were still collecting evidence and waiting on the medical examiners office to arrive.
Police do not have a name for the victim, but say the victim is a man who is in his 20s and wearing dark clothing.
Officers say someone was driving in the area when they saw the man lying in the street and called police around 3:30 Monday morning.
A piece of a car has been found near where that man was lying on the ground; police believe that piece is from the car that hit the man then left.
"We're thinking it's like a part of a vehicle that belongs to a Chevy S-10 or GMC Sonoma," said Sgt. Stephen Florea, Tulsa Police Department.
Peoria was closed, but is now back open in both directions.
Police are still looking for the driver.
"It may have been someone who was scared and didn't know what to do so they fled the scene," Florea said. "We are urging that person if they will contact us, the sooner the better. The longer they wait, the more serious it becomes for them."
If you know anything about this, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 98-596-COPS.
