Police are working to figure out who is behind a deadly home invasion in northwest Oklahoma City, officials said.
According to authorities, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday two masked men forced their way into a home near Northwest 192nd Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue and shot the homeowner.
Police said the homeowner, identified as 25-year-old Rudolph James, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbor Lauren Widmar said it left her shaken.
“It made us really cautious about the neighborhood some more... It freaked me out a little bit,” Widmar said.
According to police, armed suspects broke into the home next to Widmar’s.
The suspects then tried to commit a robbery and shot James.
”There was a woman and a young child there at the scene at the time but fortunately they were not injured,” Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Megan Morgan said.
Neighbors said they are praying for the child and woman, and any other family members.
Friends remembered James as a hard-working, kind young man.
“Investigators don't have anybody in custody for this and they're asking that if anyone has information to please give us a call through Crime Stoppers at 235-7300,” Morgan said.
