Taco Bell Manager Shot After Dispute At Drive-Thru Window In NW OKC

An Oklahoma City man is shaken after being shot while on the job over the weekend. 

Police said in the early morning of Saturday, August 17, at the Taco Bell at Northwest 23^rd Street and May Avenue, the manager was met with four difficult customers.

“It started when people pulled up to the drive-thru window where they normally get their food. They insisted on ordering there at the window. For whatever reason, a dispute broke out between the employee and the people in the car,” Oklahoma City Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

According to the police report, the suspects then headed for the door.

“The door was locked. The clerk saw that they were trying to get in, went out to talk to them, opened the door, and noticed that two of them were armed with guns. He turned around to come back in the store and that's when he was shot in the leg,” Knight said.

The police report said the suspects then took off, but the store manager survived.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear that this happened. We are grateful that the team member who was injured has been released from the hospital. The franchisee who owns and operates this location is continuing to work with local authorities on their investigation,” a Taco Bell spokesperson said.

Police said the franchisee is providing surveillance footage to investigators.

Meanwhile, the victim and other witnesses described the suspects as two men and two women in a black compact sedan.

The victim described the shooter as a black man with dreads in his twenties.
