Heisman Trophy winner and former University of Oklahoma star Baker Mayfield was named the NFL's Rookie of the Week after leading the Cleveland Browns to their first win in nearly two years on Sept. 20.
Mayfield beat Atlanta wide receiver Calvin Ridley, New York running back Saquon Barkley, Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen and Carolina cornerback Donte Jackson for the Week 3 honor, according to the NFL.
In beating the New York Jets 21-17, the Cleveland rookie completed 17 of 23 passes for 201 yards. He also caught a pass on a successful two-point conversion reminiscent of both a Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl touchdown pass and an Oklahoma Sooners two-point conversion in last season's Rose Bowl playoff game.
Cleveland is headed to Oakland this weekend to face the Raiders, in what will be Mayfield's first NFL start.
