A University of Central Oklahoma football player has lost his foot after it was run over by a train early Sunday morning in downtown Oklahoma City.
According to report, Derek Loccident was walking on the railroad tracks near Southwest 5th Street and Southeast Gaylord Boulevard where a train was stopped. He reportedly climbed under the train to cross the tracks when the train started moving and cut off his foot.
Officials said the Loccident was able to get to the street to get help.
Police say they later found Loccident foot and returned it to him at the hospital.
UCO released the following statement:
The University of Central Oklahoma athletics department wishes to extend its full support to the Loccident family following an accident involving Derek Loccident Sunday morning. Derek is a sophomore on the UCO football team.
"The only thing that matters right now is that Derek knows he has our full support," head football coach Nick Bobeck said. "We are here for him. It's important for his family to know that to. This isn't about him being a football player right now, it's about him being a young man that we are here for."
