Metro HS Football Players' Vehicles Vandalized During State Title Game

The agony of defeat turned into anger and disbelief Friday night for the Bishop McGuinness High School football team.

The team had just lost the 5A state title to Carl Albert High School in Edmond.

When the team bus returned to school, three players' cars had been vandalized.

Vehicles were keyed, tires were slashed and a swastika was painted on the hood of one car.

“We think it’s crazy that somebody would go and do that,” said Leslie Schoolcraft, whose son is an Irish senior.

News 9 learned the school has video of the incident and police are investigating.

"We have no indication that the vandalism is related to the Class 5A State Championship game,” said Bishop McGuinness Principal David Morton.

Parents like Schoolcraft said they’re convinced nobody associated with Carl Albert High School was to blame.

“They’re upset. Will they retaliate? I think they are bigger and better than that,” said Schoolcraft about her son and his teammates.
