Documents Reveal Details Leading To OKC Police Lt.'s Arrest

An Oklahoma City Police Lieutenant is accused of texting a prostitute for sex, among other things.

The revelation was made in the midst of a nationwide undercover sting called “Operation Cross Country” in October.

Now, an arrest warrant for Lt. Alexander Edwards is on file at the Oklahoma County Courthouse.

The court record reveals the alleged conversation between the lieutenant and prostitute.

Investigators claim Edwards responded to a sex ad on Backpage.com.

In text messages sent from October 12 through October 13, Edwards allegedly tried to arrange a meeting with Kiana Mongi.

The two are accused of discussing a price and sex acts that would be included in the meeting.

"As an individual officer you can't just go rogue and go out there and do these things," said Howard Kurtz, a local criminologist.

Kurtz believes the text messages recovered from Mongi's phone during the undercover bust will be damaging evidence in the case against Edwards.

According to court records, the texts included Mongi quoting a price of $150 and Edwards replying that he only had $100.

Edwards allegedly inquired about oral sex and "Quickie."

Investigators indicate a "Quickie" is terminology used when referring to 15 minutes of paid sex with a prostitute.

Edwards is also accused of sending two pictures of himself, one half naked.

During all of these negotiations, Edwards allegedly tipped off the prostitute to an ongoing undercover sting, giving the prostitutes specific hotels to avoid.

"It could've put officers in danger and it could've also put the prostitutes in danger," said Kurtz

No one was hurt during the operation.

Edwards has not made a statement since his arrest went public last month.

His attorney did not return News 9’s call for comment in time for this report.

Formal charges are pending.
