A 23-year-old was arrested after breaking into someone’s home, but he didn’t get far.
Police arrived before the suspect could get away and it was thanks to a vigilant neighbor.
It was near SW 40 Street and S Independence Avenue in Oklahoma City. Angela Moore said she is familiar with most all of her neighbors, but on Friday morning, she noticed something suspicious.
“It’s kind of strange that this person is walking down this block and the way that she was looking around at every house,” said Moore.
She said Williams was wearing a blonde wig and female clothing, so in the interview with News 9, Moore referred to the suspect as a woman.
Moore said the suspect knocked on the front door and stood there for a few minutes. When no one answered, she said Williams went around the left side of the house.
Police reports show Williams crawled through the window.
“How she got past the dog, I don’t know,” said Moore.
Moore quickly called 911. She said the Oklahoma City Police Department arrived within minutes and the suspect was still inside the house. Officers got him to come out.
The suspect told police he was a friend of a resident, but reports show the homeowner did not know Williams at all.
“I hadn’t ever seen that person in the neighborhood before, so I was definitely watching that one,” said Moore.
The suspect was Devon Williams and he was booked into the Oklahoma County jail. He will face a burglary complaint.
