Peacock Sparks Neighborhood Feud In Tuttle

A peacock has sparked a neighborhood feud in Tuttle.

“He’s kind of almost the mascot of the neighborhood,” said Amber Motley about the peacock that she has named “Gary Allan” after the country music singer.

“I do have plenty of birds, but that bird is not mine. It just likes my house the most because I have all the food,” said Motley.

But Motley’s neighbor across the street claims the peacock is not wild, but the Motley’s family pet who can’t be controlled.

“This past Sunday morning it sounds like a woman was being murdered on my roof,” said Linda Rutz, who claimed the peacock is constantly on her roof, in her yard, and in her garage.

Rutz has called Tuttle Police seven times in the past two weeks to complain about the bird.

Motley has started a neighborhood petition to save Gary Allan. It’s been signed by everyone on the block except Rutz.

Motley says police have told her if they have to come out an 8th time because Gary has gone wandering, they’ll remove the peacock unless the Motleys can build an enclosure for the bird.

In the meantime, Motley says they’ll be extra careful to make sure the peacock doesn’t go to Rutz’s property.

“To call the police on a bird is the most absurd I’ve heard in my life,” added Motley.
