Monday is day one of four for the Republican National Convention (RNC.) In all, over 50,000 people are expected to flood Cleveland for the big event.
The line-up for opening day includes a wide-range of speakers from Donald Trump's wife Melania to Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson.
Oklahoma oilman Harold Hamm is expected to speak Wednesday.
Governor Mary Fallin is expected to speak on Thursday, the same day Trump will officially accept the GOP nomination. But Monday's theme is “Make America Safe Again.”
Security measures are heightened after the recent police shootings in Baton Rouge and Dallas. The head of Cleveland's Police union asked the Governor to temporarily suspend Ohio's open carry law.
A spokesperson for the Governor said he doesn't have the authority to do that.
Around 500 of the city's officers are assigned to the convention and thousands more from across the country and from the federal level are in Ohio to help.
