For the second time in two days, the Oklahoma State baseball team was able to take down regional host Clemson as the Cowboys blew out the Tigers 9-2 on Sunday night. With the win, OSU advances to Super Regionals for the second time in three years.
The Pokes were able to get rolling early on after Donnie Walton drew a two-out walk before Conor Costello drove him in with an RBI-double to give OSU an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Thanks to the superb pitching of Jensen Elliot, OSU was able to ride out that lead for the next few innings, but a Corey Hassel grand slam in the bottom of the fifth blew the game open for the Cowboys.
Clemson went on to add a run in each of the sixth and seventh innings, but Costello’s solo dinger to left field a Jon Littell’s two-run double, and a sacrifice fly by Collin Theroux later in the inning gave the pokes a 9-2 lead after seven.
That was all the Cowboys needed as OSU advances to Super Regionals for the second time in three years.
