A neighborhood in Yukon is keeping a close eye on their yards after a prowler was caught on a security camera. It's how that creeper got caught that has thousands of people talking on social media.
Shauna Walker has been on edge since she let her dogs out Monday morning.
“When I first let my dogs out [Monday] morning, one of them came back in covered in human poop,” She said.
That's when she and her husband, Patrick, decided to look at their surveillance video from cameras posted around the house. The videos showed a man creeping around the back porch of the Walker's Yukon home just after 4 a.m. on Monday.
The prowler looked inside the house and even tried to open the window and the back door.
Each video lasts approximately 10 seconds. In the last video the prowler leaves the view of the camera, stepping over toys left by the Walker’s two children. It’s that moment when Walker said the would-be burglar defecated in the yard before coming back to peer into the window one last time.
“I didn't know if I wanted to punch something. I was mad and I was hurt and I was scared,” Walker said.
“He acted more like a prowler than anything else,” OCPD MSgt. Gary Knight said. “In this digital age where everybody it seems has a camera, it has certainly made a lot of crimes easier and this is a perfect example.”
The Walkers say other neighbors have seen a strange man in their yards over the past week and a car was broken into last weekend. They were just the first to see him in the act. The video was viewed more than 350,000 times, according to Walker.
“He could have skipped over every fence down the line until we just happened to have a camera and caught him,” she said.
Walker said the whole neighborhood is on high alert after seeing the videos and they've decided to add a few more cameras to the house in case the suspect decides to come back. The Walkers did file a police report and asked anyone with information about the suspect to contact police.
