Leyton Hammonds shot the lights out of Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday, perhaps literally.
Hammonds scored 22 points on just six shots as the Cowboys overcame a long second-half power outage delay to beat Longwood 73-55.
OSU got off to a blistering start in this one before things tightened up. The Cowboys led 15-0 and 22-3 in the first half, but Longwood didn’t quit. The Lancers began the second half on a 10-0 run to get within two at 37-35.
The Pokes, however, never surrendered the lead. Joe Burton chipped in 13 points off the bench and was the only other Cowboy in double figures. OSU outrebounded the Lancers 39-28 and forced 21 turnovers. Oklahoma State also ripped away 10 steals.
OSU (7-3) plays Florida (6-3) on Saturday in Sunrise, Florida.
