5A Football Playoff Picture

District 1

We have five teams competing for only four playoff spots. If Ardmore can take care of business against Duncan, it’ll secure the No. 3 seed. So if Duncan does indeed lose to Ardmore, while Del City beats Chickasha, the Eagles would jump the Demons and snag the No. 4 seed.

District 2

McGuiness will surely secure the No. 1 seed with a win over Piedmont, while Deer Creek will need to defeat Guthrie by at least 10 points if the Antlers want to jump the Bluejays for the No. 2 seed in the district. Carl Albert currently holds the No. 4 seed and only has to beat a winless Southeast team to hold onto that spot.

District 3

If Skiatook beats Noble they’ll secure its undefeated season and the No. 1 seed in the district. The most intriguing game of the weekend comes when McAlester hosts Memorial. McAlester will need a win to keep the No. 2 seed, while Memorial will be fighting for victory so they can hold onto the No. 4 seed. Durant would also have to beat Bishop Kelley for Memorial to fall out of the playoff picture.

District 4

This district features a bigtime game this week with Coweta hosting Tahlequah. Coweta only has to lose by no more than 23 points to hold onto the No. 1 seed, while Tahlequah will obviously be fighting for a blowout win. If Tahlequah does end up losing, Collinsville could end up snatching the No. 2 seed if they can make up the tie-breaker differential in its game against East Central. The No. 4 seed is also up for grabs. If Edison can beat Grove by more than 14 points, Edison would jump Pryor and hold the No. 4 seed.
