The OKC County Health Department has teamed up with OKC Energy FC and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma to begin construction of two practice fields on the grounds of the Northwest Regional Health and Wellness Campus at 2600 NE 63rd in Oklahoma City.
There will be a ground-breaking ceremony on Wednesday attended by Energy FC co-owners Bob Funk Jr. and Tim McLaughlin as well as Energy players.
"Soccer is a great sport to expand the health and wellness of its participants. Energy FC is delighted with our partnership with the OKC County Health Department’s in their mission to improve the wellness of our community. The Northeast Regional Health and Wellness Campus is a perfect fit for the continued growth of our soccer club.” said Energy FC General Manager Jason Hawkins.
The facility will serve as the Energy's home training grounds and will also be used for soccer camps and neighborhood resident recreation functions. Construction should be completed by late fall. The Energy is currently in second place of the USL Western Conference with five matches remaining before playoffs begin.
