A formal charge has been filed against a Norman, Oklahoma, man who was arrested in connection to the death of his 2-year-old step-daughter.
According to court documents, Monday, Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn filed one count of first-degree murder -- child abuse, against 24-year-old Tyler Young.
An affidavit states Young’s step-daughter, Elizabeth, suffered internal injuries. It also states the Medical Examiner doctors found two bruises on the back of her scalp, and they appeared to be fresh, but ruled the main trauma was to the 2-year-old’s abdomen.
Young originally told police that the toddler fell in the bathtub. He said he performed CPR on the child, but instead of pressing on her chest, he was pressing on her stomach.
However, according the Medical Examiner's office, the injuries on the child’s abdomen were not consistent with CPR. And doctors at Children's hospital agreed that the little girl's injuries were not consistent with Young's story.

Police said at the jail, Tyler changed his story of how his stepdaughter received her injuries three different times, and ultimately ended up saying that she fell off of the kitchen counter. And when he attempted to catch her with his foot, he ended up kicking her in the abdomen.
