Oklahoma wide receiver K.J. Young has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.
The redshirt sophomore-to-be caught 19 passes last season for 215 yards and a touchdown. Young also started three games for the Sooners, with his most productive game coming at West Virginia. Young had five catches for 57 yards against the Mountaineers.
With the installation of Lincoln Riley's pass-oriented offense this offseason, it appeared Young had an opportunity to be a solid contributor this season for the Sooners. Young saw action in 12 games last season, so his experience would have bene nice to have. The emergence of Dede Westbrook and Mark Andrews should soften the blow of this dismissal.
