Edmond police are investigating after a homeowner shot an alleged intruder three times Tuesday morning.

According to Edmond police, just before 7 a.m., a man called police to report that his house, located in the 1700 block of Pebble Terrace near 2nd and Bryant, had been broken into by another man armed with a baseball bat.

Police said the suspect confronted the homeowner with the baseball bat. That's when the homeowner fired three shots at the suspect, who then ran away.

One neighbor, who lives next to the home that was broken into, spotted a white, older model Volkswagen with a broken window. That neighbor told police it was the first time he has seen that car in the neighborhood.

Shortly after 7 a.m., police said they received another 911 call from the Bryant Square Apartments. This time, a woman told police that her boyfriend came back to their apartment covered in blood.   That apartment complex is located just south of where the home invasion took place.

Just before 9 a.m., police confirmed with News 9 that the man covered in blood was indeed the suspect shot during the home invasion. Police said the suspect's girlfriend did not know that the suspect was involved in the shooting and home break-in when she called 911 for help.

According to police, the suspect was shot in the face and stomach. He has been transported to OU Medical Center in an unknown condition.

Police said the victim and the suspect had some sort of "previous relationship." So it wasn't a random home break-in.

We have crews at both scenes. Stay with us for updates.
