A formal charge has been filed against a Waynoka High School teacher who is accused of having sex with a student.
According to the Alva Review Courier, Daresa Deann Poe, 32, has been charged with a felony count of second-degree rape in Woods County, on Wednesday.
The newspaper reported that an agent with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation interviewed the victim, who said he had sex with Poe for a couple of weeks. Authorities then interviewed Poe, who admitted she had engaged in sexual intercourse with the student.
Poe has been a teacher at Waynoka High School since 2009, teaching family and consumer sciences. She is also the FCCLA Advisor, according to the Alva Review Courier.
Poe appeared in court on Wednesday. A bond was set at $10,000 with the condition that she does not contact the alleged victim. Her next appearance in court is set for Feb. 10.
