The son of a prominent local doctor passed away early Thursday.
Jason Goff, 20, was 6'6" tall and weighed 300 pounds.
He was a four-year starter on Oklahoma Christian School's football team and was studying pre-med this fall at OU.
His family said Goff contracted a mysterious virus a month ago that led to a dangerous heart condition.
Last Saturday, Goff had a heart attack while he was driving in Edmond. While the wreck did not hurt him, he never recovered from the cardiac arrest.
Doctors at Integris Baptist Medical Center pronounced him dead early Thursday morning.
“He's my hero," said Lexi, Goff's sister, from the family's home Thursday night. "I really looked up to him.”
Jason's father is Dr. Darren Goff, a well-known obstetrician who has delivered thousands of babies in the Oklahoma City area during the past two decades.
“I miss him dearly, but I'm okay,” Dr. Goff said Thursday.
The funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at Latter Day Saints Church on 33rd and Bryant in Oklahoma City.
