No. 7 Oklahoma opened play at the Littlewood Classic Friday afternoon by defeating Illinois State 11-6. The win extends OU's winning streak to four games.
Oklahoma opened up an eight-run lead after the top of the third inning, thanks in part to a five-run second inning. However, Illinois State rallied with a six-run third inning to cut the lead down to just two runs.
A three-run home run from senior Brittany Williams in the sixth gave OU some breathing room.
Williams' homer was one of three on the day for the Sooners, including a solo home run from Georgia Casey and a three-run homer from Shelby Pendley.
Casey finished 2-4 with two runs scored and two driven in, while junior Lauren Chamberlain also drove in a pair of runs and added two walks.
